Why in the world would anyone pay more than $20-$30 for a shirt? Walmart has some great ones on sale a few times a year, as does some major department stores! Certainly, I don’t need a closet full of overpriced priced clothes, especially in this economy.
Or Do I?
Mark Hoverson was one of the speakers at the now infamous No Excuses Summit in Las Vegas earlier this year. He informed the room of almost 1,000 people that he was, in fact, wearing a $500 shirt. It was not in any effort to make himself better than any one of us in the room that day. He actually told us the cost, so that he could illustrate a point. Mark said (and I’m paraphrasing here), “Your packaging matters. What you wear matters. Your external will influence your internal beliefs.”
Has someone ever told you that you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have? Same concept here.

Here are 3 quotes that you should burn into your subconscious – they are words to live by!
“If you’re not making money, it’s not the economy.”
“Your poverty isn’t serving anybody.”
“It is morally irresponsible to live in a poverty mindset.”
As if that wasn’t enough to get the wheels turning in your soul, here are a few more to explain further, and take you deeper into the rabbit hole, so to speak….
“You have to have Millionaire standards BEFORE you make that million.”
“Prosperity FOLLOWS, it does not LEAD.”
“You have to be COMFORTABLE with wealth before you can attract it.”
Write this stuff down, and put it all up where you will see it the most! Repeat these things OUT LOUD as often as possible to get it in your mind. Better yet, tell everyone you know about what you have just read. We need to change the state of our own lives in order to change our communities, our towns, our cities, our states, and our country. Now all this is not to say, hey, go and blow every last cent you have on crap you don’t need. Don’t take it there. It’s simply a matter of shifting your focus – not only being grateful for what you currently have (which will invite more good in!), but making different choices about how to get where you want to ultimately be.
Of course, most of the talk at this Summit was about business, though the quotes you have just read can be applied to every area of your life. So I want to give you one more quote just for the business mindset. This one really brought it all home for many of us…
“You’re selling ‘enhancement of life’, not just goods and services.”
Wow! Say that again, and REALLY let yourself feel those powerful words.
“You’re selling ‘enhancement of life’, not just goods and services.”
That statement alone, should change the way you view your business, as well as the way you promote it. If you’re only focused on the “compensation plan” of your company (or whatever the product is), then you’re not giving people what they really want – ‘enhancement of life’. Show them how it will make their OWN life better.
Just in case you need a reminder: People are different – stop talking at the masses, and get personal. Get to know what they dream and fear. How else will you know how to BEST serve them?
In the end, it starts with your own mindset. If you’re not willing to put your money where your mouth is, why will anyone want to buy what YOU’RE selling?!?
SELL YOURSELF, not your product. Are you representing what they are looking for?
