Affirmations – ACTION = Wishful Thinking.
When you write an affirmation, the intention behind it is to get an end result. We all know that to get from point A to point B, you must MOVE. That’s why ACTION is required in addition to writing and saying daily affirmations.
Affirmations serve as a roadmap, or mental GPS of where you want to be. You can plan it out all you want, but without action or motion of some sort, you will never get there. Think of taking business trips or vacations – they need to be planned out before you even get started.
Lets begin with your affirmations – just one for now. Make it a specific affirmation. Too many people write something like “I will be rich”. When you are as specific as possible, it’s easier to create an ACTION plan to get there! “Financial Freedom” can be expanded to include reasons why that is important. “I easily create the funds necessary to afford a fantastic vacation with my family”. From that point, think backwards, and start mapping how you arrived there! Where will you go? How much will it cost? Who do you know that can help you? What must you do to get the funds to go on vacation? Are there things you need to do (like save money, work overtime, call in a favor, or trade/barter with someone)? When you start with a plan in mind, moving forward is much easier, and actually sets in motion “miracles” from the Universe! Opportunities seem to “appear” out of nowhere!
Use photos, magazine clippings, or your computer, to create a dream board (sometimes referred to as a vision board) to keep these desires and affirmations fresh in your mind. Just make sure to do this when you are in a creating frame of mind, and not one of loss or want (*your energy gets infused into the pictures you cut out and words you are writing, and can undermine what you are trying to achieve!).
So, before you do anything else, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. Clear your mind, and focus on the feeling you will have when you achieve your goals. Feel it, smell it, see it within your mind. If you have a mental picture of an entire scenario, pick one spot or time frame (like a mental snapshot), and focus ONLY on that. We are trying to get as detailed as possible, so we can start small with the affirmations, in order to draw a specific roadmap. This will help you to take ACTION in the right direction! Once you have done this a handful of times, you will be able to create larger goals with multiple details. What we’re trying to do here, is get laser focused, so we can achieve our dream goal in a shorter amount of time, then move on to the next piece of the puzzle.
That’s a good way to think of it too – like a big puzzle. We are just trying to accomplish putting one piece down at a time. But like I said before, once you have done this a few times, you will be able to put a bunch of pieces down at a time! One day very soon, my friends, you will BE the big picture you have dreamed about.
Let’s not waste our time just writing down Affirmations without Action. No more Wishful Thinking!
DREAM BIG!! Then take it one step at a time.
“It is not enough just to meditate and pray, which are always good things to do, but we also must take positive action in this world.” His Holiness the Dalai Lama
