How To Find Your “Gift”

“What are my talents or gifts?”

“What do I have that I can give back to the world?”

“Why am I here?”

“What can I do that will make me money?”

Those are all very important questions, yet most people are not sure how to find the answers. “What can I do that will make me money?” also tends to be the first, if not the ONLY question many people ask themselves. To tell you the truth, if you’re honestly living your passion, it won’t matter if you’re “making money” at it, or not. It just so happens that those who are true to themselves, and are using their talents and gifts, can actually make a good amount of money!

In order to get the answers you need, you must first ask the right questions.

So, how do you know what to ask NOW? You may have heard about a little thing called “Personal Development”. What you read, watch, listen to, and participate in, has everything to do with your evolution – personally and professionally. When you start to get outside your own mind, and take in the thoughts of great leaders and spiritual representatives, the better questions start coming to you easily. And so do the answers…

Another method I found effective in my own quest for “answers” and direction – going back to the beginning. What did I enjoy as a child? What was I told I would be good at? What am I naturally good at NOW? What am I doing when I lose all track of time? These types of questions can give you some of the answers, or at least some direction. Now if your favorite past time is playing video games all hours, that doesn’t mean that’s what you’re supposed to be doing! So look at it with a list of pros and cons: skills needed to excel (depending on the game, you may need to be analytical or have great hand-eye coordination); time management may be a con…..

The bottom line is this – to get the best answers to your deepest hearts desires, you must improve your questions.

INSANITY – Cardio Recovery Day (Mental Issues Here!)

Our mental blocks really do screw with us! The manner in which we talk to ourselves CAN be changed – Let’s just be honest about that! All the mental chatter I had going on this morning (while trying my best to FOCUS on my workout) was seriously undermining what I was trying to accomplish. It is my goal every day with this INSANITY workout, to PUSH THROUGH IT as much as I can physically handle, without going overboard. Injury will sideline you, if the moves are not done in correct form, or with focus. So at the very least, do it right, all the way through to the end. At least at some point you get so tired, your brain just kind of shuts up for a minute!

KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!

There is this small but powerful river of doubt and frustration in the back of my mind – and I’m aware of it. Being aware of your issues is a great step toward overcoming them. My Life Coach Kim Somers told me to make decisions and perform actions that keep me moving in a forward-positive direction. My daily goal for the workouts is to NOT SIT DOWN! It doesn’t matter how tired I am, or how much I want to quit, as long as I’m standing, there is hope for me!

You would think by the title of the DVD, this workout would have taken pity on a weary body….YEAH RIGHT! I actually think this one was MORE INSANE! That’s fine. Bring it on! But be gentle, please.  :-)

A couple of the moves I couldn’t even do…weak wrists I guess. At least my feet don’t hurt today! This morning was the toughest mentally for me. My alarm went off at 6am, and I did not want to move out of my comfy bed! Once I had my clothes and shoes on, I was SURE there was something else I had to do before we started. NOPE – just delaying the inevitable! So we started the workout, which seemed harmless enough, since we weren’t immediately jumping around. As I learned from yoga, however, you don’t need to jump up and down to break a sweat. Slow moves and held poses can kill your muscles just the same! With my heart rate still up, my core was worked as well as my arms. Actually, there was no muscle group spared in this DVD!!

At the end of the workout I realized how fast the time flied. While I wrestled with my doubts and desire to lay down, we made it through to the end. 47 minutes went by like a flash….then it was over. With the rest of my day ahead of me, I felt empowered. Only a few minutes until my 2 year old woke up, and another hour until my 1 year old woke up. There were things to do, no time to lay down!

While this post is mainly about the INSANITY workout, the mental block issue can be applied to relationships and business. The point is to keep moving forward in a positive way. Keep moving. Keep moving. Keep moving. Do everything that will get you to where you want to be. If your WHY is strong enough, you’ll do what it takes to get there!

Growing Forward With You,

Why You Should “Get Fit Or Get Out!”

I noticed this quote on the wall behind the INSANITY team, during the workout this morning.

“GET FIT OR GET OUT!”

While this may be applied to the workout itself, I immediately started thinking that it could also be used in the business arena (as well everything else in life)!

Anyone who has any HOPE of growing and enjoying a successful business, needs to work on Personal Development. That’s the GET FIT part. (The GET OUT part is obviously if you don’t do it – and YOUR choice!)

So, how do your GET FIT? Just like going to the gym, or doing any exercise routine, you have to push yourself a little more every day to be a better version of yourself. When you do this to grow yourself personally and professionally, it requires that you stretch your MIND as well. My Life Coach Kim Somers says ” Always ask yourself, Am I moving forward positively or backward negatively in my life? If backward, take steps daily to move the better way. Little tiny life changes goes a long way.” Notice she said STEPS. You’re not required to make these gigantic leaps toward your goals, but it is necessary to take STEPS in a positive direction.

Positive steps include:

Better nutrition choices

Getting daily exercise

Reading books written by those you admire and are where you want to be

Attending workshops

Taking vacations (you DO need to relax and recharge your batteries once in a while!)

Tell the truth (it’s amazing how many little lies you tell yourself and others daily)

Make an effort to dress nicely everyday (a big one for me when I had my first daughter)

SMILE!!!

Learn something about the business you are in

Now, obviously this list could go on forever, but I’m sure you get the point. With every decision, no matter the size, you must decide if it’s going to get you where you want to be, or keep you from it. That’s how and why you GET FIT.

In regards to business, if you’re not going to do what it takes to be the BEST at what you do, you might as well GET OUT!!!

Why do anything, if you’re not going to give it all you’ve got?

**By the way, when YOU start giving your all in a positive direction, you WILL attract those who are willing to do the same. Now, how will THAT change your life?

Why I Hired A Life Coach…

Kim Somers is not just a Life Coach. She is one of the most fulfilled people I know! Anyone who is happy with their life, and gives it a 10 (on a scale of 1-10), can certainly give me some direction!

Now let me be clear on this: Everyone you meet can influence your behavior, your perspective, your experiences. The same holds true for the people who meet YOU – you have the ability to influence those you meet. Remember the commercial where one person saw another person helping someone, then they went out and helped someone else, and the chain kept going? It’s kind of like that. The difference with a life Coach is that they have a specific set of tools used to motivate your behavior, as well as your thought process, in order to help you toward your goals. They are not here to tell you what to do, but will instead, lead you through a path of SELF discovery (well, the good ones do anyway!). An outsider can tell you things they see about you and your situations, that you may not otherwise have had perspective on. With all the different aspects of our lives running at once, it’s easy to get them muddled up and confused with one another.

My life, as an example, was just one long day of “Mommy!”, Spongebob, what’s for breakfast, laundry, dishes, phone calls, diapers, nap times, dogs, Kai-Lan, don’t jump on that, stop hitting your sister, bath time, potty training, errands, vacuuming, put your clothes back on, what’s the matter, stop touching mommy’s computer, check email, check Facebook, who’s going to the meeting, where is my phone, who’s birthday is it, grocery store, what are we having for lunch, brush your teeth….Seriously, the list goes on!

What she has done for me in just 2 phone calls is nothing short of a miracle! It does take a willingness to be open and honest with yourself. It also takes the ability to take in to consideration the other persons impressions about you – good or not so. Homework is sometimes required, as is changing your daily schedule (not just for the phone calls or face to face sessions), and just the way you do some things in general.

The trick is to find someone with interests like your own, so that the things they suggest are not far out of your character. The closer they are to the personality that you DESIRE OR YOURSELF, the more likely you will be to mimic what they do and say, and you will find yourself making any changes suggested easily.

This is also true of anything in life – when there is something you want, find someone who has it (or something similar), and do what they do to get it! I would like to be a well rounded, happy, fulfilled mommy, wife and entrepreneur (and Spiritualpreneur), therefore, I found someone with those things, and I am doing what is necessary to achieve that.

There is nothing wrong with seeking outside help. Too many people are proud and don’t want to be honest with themselves about their lack of direction and fulfillment. Maybe money is an issue – that can usually be worked out if you have found the perfect coach. Don’t let anything stop you from achieving your greatest potential! Find that perfect person (or people) to help you on your path to greatness. Then…

RETURN THE FAVOR!

Once you have been placed gently on your path, help others do the same. You don’t have to be a pro yourself, but help others reach their goals, even small ones. Do what you can with what you have!

Like I said before, she has helped me so much just by talking and giving me things to think about and work on. It’s a process.

Take the first step….
